Everything you need to design

A full graphic design tool — not a toy. Graphtr covers the essentials you actually use every day, without burying them in menus.

Text that feels right

Add headings and body text, pick from 30+ hand-curated fonts, and fine-tune size, spacing, alignment and color. Shadow, lift, hollow, outline and highlight effects included — double-click any text to edit it right on the canvas.

Shapes, elements & charts

Rectangles, stars, arrows, flat graphics — plus editable column, bar, line, pie, donut and progress charts with your own data.

Your images, your filters

Drag & drop or paste images, then adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, blur and more.

Real layer control

Reorder, group, lock and hide layers. Smart alignment guides snap everything into place.

Pro keyboard shortcuts

T for text, R for rectangle, ⌘D to duplicate — the same muscle memory you know from the big tools.

Every export, free

PNG with transparency, JPG, SVG and PDF — at 1x or 2x. The exports other tools paywall are free here.

Start from a free template

Every template is fully editable and free to use — swap the text, colors and images, then download your design in seconds.

How Graphtr works

From idea to finished graphic in three steps — usually under five minutes.

1

Pick a template or a blank canvas

Start from a free template, or choose a preset size — Instagram post, story, YouTube thumbnail, A4 poster, business card — or set your own dimensions.

2

Make it yours

Swap the text, drop in your images, change colors and move things around. Smart guides keep everything aligned while you work.

3

Download and share

Export as PNG (with transparency), JPG, SVG or PDF in one click. No watermark, no sign-up wall between you and your file.

Who is Graphtr for?

Anyone who needs good-looking graphics without the learning curve of professional software — or the price tag of a subscription.

For students

Posters for the school fair, covers for assignments, slides that don't look like default themes. Graphtr runs on any laptop — including school machines where you can't install software — and never asks for an account.

For small businesses

Menus, price lists, sale announcements, business cards and flyers — made in minutes, not commissioned in weeks. Export print-ready PDFs or social-ready PNGs without paying for another subscription.

For creators

YouTube thumbnails that pop, Instagram posts and stories on brand, channel art in the right dimensions from the start. Presets for every platform mean no more cropping surprises.

A free Canva alternative that runs in your browser

Most online design tools are free until you need the thing you actually came for — a transparent PNG, an SVG, a resized canvas. Graphtr takes the opposite approach: the whole editor is free, and your designs never leave your device. There is no premium tier hiding the good parts.

Frequently asked questions

Is Graphtr really free?+

Yes. The entire editor — every tool, template, font and export format — is free. There is no trial period, no premium tier hiding features, and no watermark on anything you download.

Do I need to create an account?+

No. Graphtr works without any sign-up. Open the editor and start designing immediately. Your work is saved automatically in your browser's local storage.

Where are my designs stored?+

On your own device. Graphtr saves designs to your browser's local database (IndexedDB), so nothing is uploaded to a server. That also means your designs are private by default — we literally cannot see them.

Can I use my designs commercially?+

Yes. Everything you create in Graphtr is yours, including designs based on our templates. Use them for your business, client work, merchandise or anything else — no attribution required.

What file formats can I export?+

PNG (including transparent backgrounds), JPG, SVG and PDF — at standard or 2x resolution. Transparent PNG and SVG export are free in Graphtr, while most design tools reserve them for paid plans.

Can I upload my own images and fonts?+

You can upload your own images (drag & drop, file picker, or paste from clipboard) and use them freely. Graphtr ships with 30+ curated fonts; custom font upload is on the roadmap.

Does Graphtr work on my device?+

Graphtr runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge — on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. It's designed for desktop and laptop screens, where real design work happens.

Is Graphtr a Canva alternative?+

For everyday graphics — posters, social media posts, thumbnails, invitations, business cards — yes. Graphtr focuses on doing those fast and free. It doesn't try to replace full creative suites for advanced photo manipulation or video.

Will my work disappear if I close the tab?+

No. Designs autosave to your browser as you work and reappear in "My Designs" when you return. Just note that clearing your browser data will also clear locally saved designs — export anything important.

How does Graphtr make money if it's free?+

The core editor is free and will stay free. In the future we may add optional pro conveniences (like cloud sync across devices), but never by taking away features that are free today.
